Bab 2: Around the School, Road Safety & Family
This bab covers Units 4–6. Pupils learn the phonemes /t/, /p/, /n/, /I/, /d/ and /m/, give directions in school, follow road safety rules, and talk about Nabil's family.
Pupils talk about buying food at the canteen:
That is the school canteen.
We can buy puffs and pies.
We can also buy pasta and tarts.
Kiran bought ten tarts for his friends.

Pupils chant in groups:
Pasta, curry puffs, pies,

He wants ten plates of pasta,

Use 'Turn left', 'Turn right', and 'Go straight on' to give directions. At the canteen, pupils can buy food like puffs, pies, pasta, and tarts.
Pupils talk about how to cross the road safely:
Wait for the lollipop man.
Use the zebra crossing.
Be alert.

The three road safety steps are: 1) Stop at the roadside, 2) Look right, left, right again, 3) Listen for cars. Always use the zebra crossing.

Pupils punctuate the dialogue correctly:
A capital letter is used at the beginning of a sentence.
A full stop is used at the end of a sentence.
A question mark is used at the end of a question.
What are those flowers? — Those are daisies.
Where are the ducks going? — They are walking back to the lake.
Pupils sing (to the tune of 'If You're Happy and You Know It'):
If you love your family, you clap your hands. (clap 2 times)
If you love your family, please hug them tenderly.
If you love your family, you clap your hands.
Every sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop (.) or a question mark (?). Say 'thank you' when someone helps you and 'I am sorry' when you make a mistake.
📝 Kosa Kata
The 'lollipop man' or 'lollipop lady' carries a big round stop sign that looks like a lollipop! That is how they got their name. They help pupils cross the road safely near schools.
